Flip Flop

I know topical isn’t exactly my usual style, but I felt that considering the illustrated ramble I posted last month relating to the upcoming election (in addition to the slightly less coherent election song I bashed out after a couple of whiskies weeks later) I couldn’t miss the opportunity to follow up on just how brilliantly wrong I turned out to be.

Having said that, after the initial rush of blood to the Clegg I’m not sure the situation we’re now in is any better; It’s still a two horse race, and unfortunately the one we’ve pulped to glue might have been worth a second look. So now what are we left with? The blue one, or the yellow one?

I can’t in good faith vote for the blue ones, primarily because I don’t feel I could trust Cameron to keep an eye on my shopping in a supermarket for longer than about ten seconds. Having said that, as much as I think Clegg is a superb chap some of his policies are a bit fucking mental - particularly the frighteningly niave policies involving the removal of all UK nuclear weapons (something that sounds delicious on paper, but is the tactical equivalent of deciding you’re going to play chess without pawns - and like it or not, we’re fucking playing chess.)

So yeah, whilst everyone else is concerned that Murdoch is playing the numbers to put the blues ahead of the yellows, I’m a bit more concerned that Mr. Brown is being entirely cut out of the picture.

Which is a shame, because out of the three of them - he’s the only one who seems to have fairly grounded and reasonable ideas, AND isn’t a complete cunt.

EDIT: I am an idiot, and the yellows only plan to disarm Trident, rather than all nukes. Regardless, whilst it’s fucking expensive - it’s a fairly handy bit of gear to have around, as whilst the US will step in should we get attacked directly; if we get attacked with nuclear weapons then by the time the US are able to respond we’d most likely be pretty fucking dead. :(
